The daily squeeze that helped 40% of men in one trial get normal erections back
The one thing
Do pelvic floor exercises (Kegels) every day.
The pelvic floor muscles help keep blood trapped in the penis during an erection. Stronger muscles hold it better.
Do it today
- Find the muscle: it’s the one you’d squeeze to stop peeing midstream, or to lift your testicles.
- Squeeze as hard as you can for a few seconds, then fully relax. Repeat in sets.
- Do sets lying down, sitting, and standing, every day, for at least three months.
What the study found
After six months, 40% of men had normal erections again and another 35.5% improved. The other 24.5% didn’t improve. At three months, men doing the exercises were already doing better than men who only made lifestyle changes.
- Who
- 55 men with erectile dysfunction lasting at least six months.
- Type of study
- Randomized controlled trial in the UK, with a physiotherapist teaching the exercises.
- Keep in mind
- A small, older trial. Men also got lifestyle advice and some biofeedback coaching.
